(Scorers: Carr, R.Laing, G.Price)

After a mixed bag of results in the League Cup section, Breadalbane opened their league campaign with a home match against First Division newcomers Kinross.
Keen to get the season started on a high, Breadalbane almost got off to a real flyer when winger Andy Jamieson somehow contrived to hit the post twice in the opening 10 seconds.  As is so often the case, though, the home side were left to rue these spurned chances as Kinross opened the scoring just two minutes later.  A left wing cross eluded the Breadalbane back line and was met robustly at the far post by the Kinross striker.

From then on Breadalbane fought hard to gain a foothold in the game and their persistence was rewarded moments before half-time when new signing David ‘Chucky’ Carr raced onto a through ball and poked it past the keeper for his first goal in Aberfeldy colours.

Aided by a strong wind and the rewards of a tough pre-season training schedule, the home side went on to dominate the second period.  A cleverly worked move between the newly formed strike partnership of Price and Laing resulted in the latter finishing from nine yards out, putting Breadalbane into an early second half lead.  The compliment was returned by Laing just minutes later.  His crisply struck corner was met with a towering header by Price and last term’s top scorer opened his account for this season.

From then on Breadalbane never looked like letting the lead slip and, but for some erratic finishing and inspired goalkeeping, could well have added to the scoreline.

With the introduction of another new signing, Breadalbane finished the game with three schoolboys in the side who all look more than capable of holding their own at this level.  Marshalled well at the back by the experience of Menzies and Thomas and driven forward from midfield by new captain Lee Veitch, this opening performance augurs well for the season ahead as Breadalbane look to build on two solid years in the top flight.

Breadalbane: Menzies, Cromb, Smith, Thomas, McAdam, Jamieson , McBride (Klatschak), Veitch (B Laing), Carr, G Price, R Laing
